Fastway couriers

On a non-beer-related subject...

Has anyone ever used Fastway couriers? If so, did your package ever arrive?

My computer blew it's PSU, so I ordered a new one online. The company sent it 'next day delivery' with Fastway. Now the bloody 'courier' won't deliver it!

Anyone else had a problem with this mob?

I had a problem with them once. They tried to deliver a package at 5:45 AM. By the time I got out of bed and got to the door the bloke had left. I called the number on the slip he left and they tried to charge me to redeliver. Need less to say I blew up at the woman on the phone and got it delivered that afternoon free of charge ;)

I spoke to him recently re: this, as he was kindly reprimanding me for choosing standard post for my liquid yeast at the same price as a courier...

I have used Ipec, Mail Call, Airryde, Australian Air Express, Couriers Please, Hunter + subsidiaries, and some others... I have had packages go missing/misdirected with all except Ipec, who I used once, and had a computer turn up looking like a car accident... Please let me know if you find a good one, I need it for work.

The first few oders I got from Ross were delivered by fastway, the satchel had a hole in it, prob from another parcel the were delivering, hence one bag of grain had a hole in it and one pack of hops were seperated from the bag. Now I make sure I ask Ross to put my order in a box, and he has always kindly done that.

I work in the transport industry and NO courrier service is perfect, but I find that Aus Air Express in the most consistant, being that in the 2 years I've used them only 1 parcel was delivered late by 1 day, and once the driver didn't even show for my daily pickup. TNT are OK, but they wanna rape you for their service. TNT wont be around for much longer though.

I like Mailcall and Air Australia Express myself. Both fast and reliable. Fastway are easily the worst out of all the couriers I've ever had to deal with!

I called their office yesterday and was assured that my stuff was already on a truck heading for me, and that it would definately be here by 5pm. 14hours later and I'm still waiting...

Next day delivery... next week delivery! And it's only Sydney to Canberra. I'm glad I don't live in Perth! (but that's for other reasons as well) :P

With Aus Post "Overnight Express Post" they refund the cost of post if the package is delivered late. It is about the same price as most other carriers 5 kilo satchel but you only get 3 kilos. Toll has always been best in my experience for large parcels that do not fit in the express bag.

Only problem i ever had was i had 2 kegs delivered and left a message on the order to drop off even if i was not home, they didnt and when i called about getting it dropped off again the driver was irate and rude till i calmly ( not ) pointed out the fact that he was a dickhead and if he would kindly read the invoice he would see i was in the right, amazing how much his tune changed after that and they were here in about 10 minutes all apolagetic im pretty sure that was fastway.

I had a courier bring around a laptop at 10.30 this morning but the wife missed him.
I rang his mobile at 2.00pm an he said he could bring it over straight away. 10mins later the wife rings me to say it had arrived.

I don't know which company he works for but I'm pretty impressed. (Hope I don't get home tonight to find it damaged  )

I find Fastway pretty damned good - Unfortunately with all diferent franchises around the country the service is only as good as the weakest link. They are 10 times better than auspost, though.

cheers Ross

Well, it sounds like the weakest link may well be in Canberra!
