Heat Exchanger

Ok Folks,

Always ready for something new, I want to build a copper tube heat exchanger (not a problem). Question, anyone see any issues of running mash water through it to maintain temp rather than doing a single stage infusion? Afterall, a heat exchanger will heat or cool.

Thanks

Dogger,

I couldn't see a problem. The issue with doing this after the boil (when cooling to transfer to the fermenter) is that it's hard to clean the inside of the pipe and you have problems of muck from a previous brew infecting the current brew.

However, since it's only the mash water and it will be boiled later, it shouldn't be a problem.

I don't think!

Cheers,

Oliver
