The world's worst beer?

We've all tasted some pretty bad beers in our time. What's your all-time least favorite?
The beers that form this poll have all been* tasted by Geoff and me and rated less than two stars.
Which of these beers do you rate most lowly?
Have you tasted a worse beer that's not on the list?
*This was at the time the poll was created. We've tasted more since then.

G'Day fellas - good to see you blokes setting up a new forum. Best of luck with it!
As far as world's worst beer goes though, you can't go past Budweiser. Not even Carlton Cold, as bad as it is, compares with Bud. Is it even beer?? The Americans really know how to bugger up perfectly good water...
Gough.

Have to agree with you there Gough. Budweiser is the worst beer I have ever tasted, much worse than xxxx or even Westend which I consider to be very bad. Put it back in the Horse I say!

Don't know why VB isn't on this list. It barely even tastes like beer.
If I had a choice betwwen drinking VB, and getting beaten around the head with a brick. I would at least have the common sense to ask you use a good quality house brick!

Yes, terrible oversight by me not to include VB, which we rated one star.
It really is a shocking beer, and has now been added to the poll
Cheers,

I just put something to my lips that was accused of being a beer and that is "Old Speckled Hen" by Morland breweries in Suffolk
This stuff could choke a horse. I have choked back two of the four I bought(thinking the first was just a bad can) and I can't think of anyone I hate enough to give the other two to. This stuff rates 0.5 on your scale and it's only saving grace is that it has some alcohol to it.
The can claims some 280 years of brewing experience went into this. Not a chance says I, I could brew a better batch using panther piss and a mean dogs bone. Buy yourself a can Man and try what is truely the most revolting river slime to cross the face of the earth. I swear the water they have used is effluent from a local landfill and that is being generous.
Sorry to see Kokanee on your list of kife beers. I picked up more honeys as a younger man with the mugwamp beer and BC actually sold it after hours to. Don't see Moosehead there, I understand the Export Moose is pretty cats ass, the domestic stuff is really bad. Funny about that
Hey, aces site guys. two thumbs up

Hi Guys
Well, from this list I'd have to choose Carlton Cold ... but there are a couple of locals that I shudder to remember the taste of that are not on your list.
Personally .... I'm a big fan of Reschs draught and the pilsner (if I'm after a "standard" local beer) but one time I made the mistake of buying Reschs Real .... OMG that was bad
Also, probably the worst commercial beer I ever tasted was Tasman Ice... twice as bad as Carlton Cold .... don't think I've seen it in years ... I wonder why

Dunno if I should admit to this or not, but I kinda like Amstel
.......... and only $30 a slab, cheaper and better than most swill beers.....

I have had it over in Holland and it wasn't bad, it truely sucks here in Canada as they take the water form down stream of a steel mill. Water is what it always boils down to (no pun intended of course)

Do they still sell SWAN ??
About 15 odd years ago a during a Victorian beer strike the only thing we could get was SWAN in a black can......We thought it was truly awwwwwwful........ but being in our early twenties we drank it anyway...

Of all those beers up there, I chose carlton cold. All the people I know who say they dont like beer, say carlton cold is the only one they like.
But I reckon the worst beer Ive ever had was carlsberg elephant (piss). It was one of the only times Ive ever struggled to down half a glass. Kingfisher lager from india is pretty bad, as is oranjeboom from holland. I could go on, but I wont.

Don't you hate it when you have a party - you buy good beer because you're that sort of guy, and then someone brings shit beer, such as Carlton Cold, leaves that and drinks all your good beer.
I have an aquaintance who performs this feat regularly.
Thankfully in a discussion last night I learnt that crap beer does have a use other than cleaning out drains, and poisoning the local feral cats - it can be used to clean the bbq.
Such words of wisdom - only one man could be the bearer of such wonderful news.
Always a pleasure to share an ale or two with you over the weekend. And by the way - have you been eating garlic ?
And man - I hate Carlton Cold - it's definitely my choice.

Perhaps we should split this thread to:
1. Beers that are good to ok, but overrated
2. Beers that you will drink if you are thirsty and the choice is be thirsty or drink the beer in question.
3. Beers that you will not drink. The 'May I have a cup of tea?' category.
My humble opinion.
Cat 1. Boags, Cascade, and Hahn Premiums.
Cat 2. VB I swilled way too much VB in my late teens (18,19) to be able to say I will not drink it ever in good conscience.
Cat 3. San Miguel. I think they draw their water from a Manila sewer, wash a few mangy dogs in it then proceed to make the beer.
Crown Lager not sure if it is cat 2 or 1. Not as good as the others listed in cat one.
Carlton Cold and Tooheys Dry somewhere between cats 2 & 3
The party - usually rock up with homebrew and crowds swarm.

I concur on Cat 1 and Cat 2, but put Crown and Carlton Cold into Cat 3. Terrible beers, they are.
Cheers,
Oliver

Yep I agree
San Mig does suck a mean dogs bone. Beer or no Beer question (what the hell is tea?), I guess somwhere in my childhood I must have sucked a mean dogs bone before.
My pride has taken a blow.

Tasman Bitter even worse IMHO. From memory it was a special beer made for Woolworths/Liquerland
I only had the displeasure of drinking it once. I went to help a mate fix his car and his idea of thanks was a stubbie of this shit.
Many years ago a guy at work told us he could get slabs for 10 bucks. Being all of 19 years old, I thought you beaut and handed over 20 bucks.
A week latter the guy brings the ute in full of these slabs. The beer was Tooheys Tall Ships. I took 2 mouthfulls from the first stubbie and the other 47 stubbies got tossed in the bin.

Tea is that ofther caffinated black drink that isn't coffee. It's from the leaves of a plant.
