I was planning to make two Coopers Best Extra Stouts. Made the first one and boiled up everything for the second, went for the can of stout and .... oops! Only Coopers English Bitter left.
This is what ended up going in -
• 1 coopers English Bitter tin
• 1 kg Dark Dry Malt Extract
• .5 kg Light Dry Malt Extract
• .5kg brown sugar
• 200g Dry Wheat Malt
• 25g Goldings @ 20 minutes

Yeah should be a nice amber ale / dark ale / porter...may be a touch sweet for my tastes but it will work out ok.
Cheers,

Estimated OG: 1.057 SG
Looks like a Extra Special Bitter to me.
I would keep an eye on the gravity, and if you can't get it to finish below 1.018, pitch a hungy hungry yeast like US05 to finish it up.
I would also dry hop the crap out of it, and possibly even steal a portion from the fermenter, boil with more hops, cool with lid on in sink, and add back to get some more balance happening.
Shouldn't be a bad drop at all.

Thanks guys. I've been away on a work trip and have a chance to think about what to do to it now I'm home.

In the end I left it 'as is' and it turned out to be a very smooth and lovely beer. I will be making another of this in the near future.

You've made a great beer.
Well done.
I've only had one mistake go a bit awry on me. All the others turned out to be improvements on the original recipe/idea.
Cheers
