To Lager or not

Post by Polar »

G'day Al
have just bottled two lagers and i was going to lager these in the fridge but have been reading on other forums that I should have primed the bottles with less than the normal amount of sugar - would i be better not lagering these bottles or will it make no difference

never heard of using less sugar to prime. did they give a reason? I suppose if you are putting it down for a few months in the cold, less priming sugar would probably make little diff. Given that you are probably after a well carbonated lager - why skimp?

Can't see how using less priming sugar would lead to over-carbonated beer!

Was there something special in the brew to begin with? Most lagers are usually well carbonated so as Bomma said why skimp.
Some people say I have a drinking Problem....
I drink, I get drunk, I fall over....
What's the problem?

i find it depends on how long your intending on storing/lagering them for.. the longer you leave it the more carbonated they will get.
