Hop Bags

Hi all,

Just a question about Hop Bags...

I have only used Hop Bags for my brews so far, and whilst they definately add flavour, I find that sometimes it also adds some 'different' flavours also. For example, I find the Cascade bags tend to add an almost earthy, dirt taste?

My question is if I choose to use pellets as apposed to hop bags will I get a more flavoursome beer without these tastes or is this typical of these hops?

Cheers,

Paul.

I've never used hop bags but if everything I've ever read about them is correct pellets will be fresher and (presumably) better tasting.

I would be very disappointed with hop pellets that were found to carry over a "dirt" aspect. Earthiness I can see - dirt...not so much.

Definitely look into grabbing some pellets. Bang them in an airtight container/bag and keep them in the freezer and they'll last for quite some time.

Cheers, i will give it a go.

So whats the best method of using these pellets? Do you just chuck them into the fermenter or do I need to boil them up?
