Mixing Yeasts

Hi,

I put down a honey lager today which included a Coopers Original Lager tin and I used the supplied yeast.

I also had an old yeast packet from a Coopers Cerveza tin which I believe is a slightly different yeast -but not wanting to waste it I chucked it in also.

My question is by mixing these yeasts will it effect my end product?

I'm hoping not....

You'll be fine.
If you have a look at Wyeast's website, you'll see some of their yeasts are blends of different strains. I know those are liquid yeasts, but the principle is the same as for dry yeasts.

I'd almost go so far as to assume that they're both the same yeast strain. There definitely is a problem if you over-pitch yeast but pitching 14g is far from being a problem. Your beer will be fine.

Just for future reference; if you have a kit yeast left over that you won't use in a brew, you can always quickly boil it up and use it as a yeast nutrient in a big (read: high abv) beer or a brew that doesn't have a lot of nutrient to begin with (read: non-kit ginger beer, hard lemonade, etc)
