Oliver and Geoff

Oliver and Geoff
byOliver and Geoff, March 22, 2014
Not a bad beer. But lacking something. Perhaps a little maltiness.
byOliver and Geoff, March 22, 2014
Pots: It's a nice beer, but it's not a sessional beer, is it?

A touch sweet, but very nice.
byOliver and Geoff, March 22, 2014
Red. Delicious. Slightly sweet edge. Magnificent.

Pots: I've just whoofed mine down. I loved it.
byOliver and Geoff, March 22, 2014
it's terrible - lh - oh god. it atastes like someone has got a stubby of beer and accidentally put a bottle of cider in it.
pots: it smells to me like someone has pissed in the bottle.

After drinking the bullant. "And this is not good."

Of course it's shit, it's called cabin boy and they take it up the arse.

OW: you can smell the coriander, can't you.

Pots: AllI could smell was piss.

Hunty: Shocking.

I can't believe I tastked a great wheat beer then tasted one of the worst wheat beer I have ever tasted if not the worst beer I have ever tasted.

Sour. Disgusting.

That is the worst fucking beer I have ever tasted.
byOliver and Geoff, March 22, 2014
A beautifully balanced beer, sweet but bitter. Doesn't taste and smell like spew, as do some wheat beers. We liked it.
byOliver and Geoff, December 1, 2013
A strong beer with strong hop character. Headless, but tasty enough.

Yep

Bottle-conditioned.

Geoff: "Smooth as."

Oliver: "Warm and delicious."
byOliver and Geoff, November 25, 2012
Barrel-aged, which is evident on the nose and taste. Smells like bourbon and has a whisky-like finish. Incredibly smooth, with a nice alcoholic warmth. Headless.

Oliver: "I'm glad we're sharing a 330ml bottle because that's just about as much as I can drink."

It's almost a beer that you could enjoy on the rocks!
byOliver and Geoff, November 25, 2012
Ticks all the boxes for a good Scotch ale. Light carbonation, malty and with the aroma of dried fruit.
★★★★
Wow
byOliver and Geoff, November 25, 2012
A beautiful-looking beer and it maintains a good head for the alcohol content.

And the taste? Wow! Amazingly smooth. Quite smooth and with an excellent flavour. It doesn't taste like a 9% beer.

Geoff: "It's sweet commensurate with its taste."
byOliver and Geoff, November 24, 2012
A strong stout.

Geoff: "A f--ing strong stout. It's all right though, isn't it?
byOliver and Geoff, November 24, 2012
A beautifully presented beer. Tastes chocolatey, malty and nice.

Geoff: "F--ing sensational. Eminently drinkable."
byOliver and Geoff, November 24, 2012
Oliver: "It's just too sweet. Sweet, sweet, sweet, but tasty."

Geoff: "It tastes like so many homebrews. It has a cloying sweetness. Lacks balance."
byOliver and Geoff, November 24, 2012
Made with brewery-grown hops. Malty and delicious.

The rest of the tasting notes for this beer made little sense the next morning, but evidently we liked it.

A fine beer. America is a land of contradictions: the richest and the poorest; some of the most shit beer in the world and the best beer in the world.

Why can't Australian breweries make pilsner beer like this, instead of the too-fruity stuff they generally serve up.
byOliver and Geoff, November 24, 2012
Geoff: "Bloody beautiful. These guys make good beer."

Good head. Golden and bitter.

Oliver: "This is a bloody good beer."

Not cloying. You could drink one or two of them or you could drink 10 of them.
byOliver and Geoff, November 24, 2012
Lisa: "Oh, that tastes OK."

Marcelle: "Yeah, that's all right."

Geoff: "This is a pretty good beer."

It's got a hazelnut finish and a bit of spice.
byOliver and Geoff, November 24, 2012
Flat.

Marcelle: "It tastes wrong. It doesn't taste right. It tastes awful."

Oliver: "It's like cordial."

Geoff: "It might taste OK after a day drinking a slab of NT Draught."

The ladies thought it might taste OK over ice, a little like Pimms.

A bit later in the evening, while eating curry, we realised that this beer tastes like VB with a bit of Sharwood's Mango Chutney mixed in.

This rated 1, which is the lowest we can. Most of that was due to the attractive label.

Burleigh HEF
Geoff: “Well, that’s not very nice. It tastes a bit like spew. Although, conversely probably at the end of the night after you’ve had a spew it tastes like beer.” Oliver: “There’s something NQR about it. It’s too sweet, and a bit too much of a dark copper colour.” But GR: “The first wheat beer I could finish without pressure.”

Marston’s Oyster Stout
Oliver: “The only way I’d eat oysters.” (An apparently interesting discussion, the entire contents of which were forgotten the next day, evidently took place about brewing with seafood.) Geoff: “It certainly has the molluscs about it. I like it. But only because I feel like eating a dozen oysters.” Oliver: "A subtle, slightly sweet stout. Well balanced and lovely.” Marcelle: “I could drink that.” Guest Reviewer Floss: “It’s black, so it must be good.”
