I also had the problem of the boil dry protection kicking in during the boil, so I am now scraping the crud from the element cover after mash out and then once or twice during the boil. This seems to have fixed the problem without needing to go to the extreme of re-wiring.

Never seen these before, but a cheaper and more available solution is just to buy a metre or so of clear vinyl tubing from the hardware. Stick one end over your little bottler and the other end in the tap (you'll probably need another very short section of the hard plastic tube). Arrange your ...

Word of warning - bought a bottle of imported Japanese beer (Asahi I think but could have been Kirin) at a bar in Sydney (due to pitiful choice of local beers). Not cheap either. On close inspection of label, it turned out to be BUL in Thailand! As you would expect, it was awful.

Really old home brew

Earlier this year a mate found some old home brew bottles (full) in his garage. The caps were dated with months in either 1997 and 1999. Still great drinking - a dark ale and something like a real ale. Is that a record?

The secret ingredient in Tiger beer is formaldehyde, a preservative. Not sure where you can source that from!
