Re: Fermenting time

Thanks for all the feedback. I've now cracked a few of the quick brewed fat yak clone and in my humble opinion it's orright. One of my mates put the same brew down six months previously with a much longer fermenting time and they were almost identical. Strangely the most noticable difference was the ...

Re: 640 ml bottles

No worries Oliver. Just for my information though can you or anyone define what a pickaxe bottle is? I've heard the term knocked about a lot and if I search the net I get a lot of hits for people asking what pickaxe bottles are.

What size are your bottles? I like the idea of bottling at 640ml ...

640 ml bottles

Hi,

I'm looking at buying some 640 ml crown top beer bottles from a packaging supplier but I can only buy 8 dozen at a time. I probably only need half that. Anybody want to buy some off me for cost price? About $1.10 a bottle new.

They are german style (ie. tall and thin) bottles made for beer ...

Re: Fermenting time

Thanks fellas, I had a wet towel on the fermenter and a fan blowing for 12 hours over a hot night to try and get the temp down but with high humidity I just don't think it was going to happen short of refrigerating the damn thing. I've just taken the hydro and it's at about 1010 (started at 1050 ...

Fermenting time

I've just put my first brew on and it seems to have finished fermenting too quickly. The kit is a Fat Yak clone. It stopped bubbling after only three days but the temperature has been up around 25 or 26 degrees.

I'll do the hydro tests but can anyone tell me if it's possible that the beer is ...

Re: Bottles too thin?

Thanks guys. I can still get the half litre bottles anytime I want them but the more I ask the question the more I think I'll steer clear of them.

I still like the idea of 500ml bottles. Coupla sociable glasses of beer and still not too big to drink as a stubbie. I'm looking into buying some ...

Bottles too thin?

Hi, I'm in the process of getting myself set up to make my first brew and have accumulated pretty much everything I need except bottles. I've been offered an endless supply of 500ml mineral water bottles with crown seal tops (Santa Vittoria mineral water). Nice enough bottles but I don't know if ...
