Re: Totally flat brew....

UPDATE!

I had left two of them sitting in the back of my beer fridge when I started this topic, and just opened one about 20 mins ago, its carbonated, not a fantastic head on it, but not too bad, but plenty of bubbles and life in it, and surprisingly it doesnt taste much unlike coopers pale ale ...

Re: Kinda screwed up?

thanks, i was away for almost the full 2 weeks, there must have ...

Kinda screwed up?

Put down a Coopers European Lager kit 2 weeks ago, now what i do with my brews, is i put the fermenter into a kinda shallow laundry basket, thats half filled with water (i add icepacks and ice to the water after to get the initial temperature down)

So here I am, filling up my brew after adding the ...

Re: 4th Attempt at a brew....pre pitching tips?

the milton i got last time was in tablet form, and it dissolves in water, says it takes about an hour for the water its in to become sterile, youre only meant to use 2 tablets per 2 litres of water, but i chucked in loads of them

Washing obviously dirty bottles

I think my coopers mexican brew is just about ready to be bottled, ive got about 70 used carlton draught stubbies sitting here, but they havent so much as been rinsed, they probably been sitting from 2 - 3 months.

I have milton which might work for sanitising the bottles, but im not sure the best ...

Re: 4th Attempt at a brew....pre pitching tips?

id say 20 - 22 would be the most likely, i wonder if i took out of the water would it stay at that now?

the only reason it was 28 was cos that was how hot it was when i sealed it, i need to find something to bulk cool water in after adding the fermentables in future i think

Re: 4th Attempt at a brew....pre pitching tips?

thanks for the help, ive just done that, also noticed the temp has come down from 28 to 22 in about 5 hours, is it risky to keep on aiming to get the temp down to 15 as you suggested earlier? or let it settle sooner rather than later and just go with it at whatever it settles at?

Re: 4th Attempt at a brew....pre pitching tips?

I am not sure what milton is...

I would still put some sanitiser in the ice bath, the spray of sanitiser is just a precaution and is in no way fool proof!

ok, would the coopers sanitizer be right to chuck in? what about the brigalow sodium metasomethingsulphate?

milton is some sort of baby ...
