With regards to stirring/dissolving the dry malt, I used to do exactly the same and it'd clump up and take absolutely ages for me to get it completely dissolved. If you do exactly what you're doing, put the dry malt in, pour the water on top then hold the fermenter by the handles and swirl the ...

Hi all,

What has crossed my mind recently is to maximise the use out of a single dry yeast pack, which was sparked by drsmurto's post on liquid yeast starters, so here goes the questions..

Is it feasible to create a yeast starter from a dry yeast pack? If so, how is this done, and what (if any ...

The only other thing I could suggest (if you're wanting a big stout) is maybe dropping your water content down from the standard 23L.

Some recipes suggest dropping the volume of water to 18L as suggested in the Brewcraft Razor Back Stout recipe. Their recipe is 1.8kg Brewcraft Premium Imported ...
