Just to get back on topic lads

Got a tin of Tooheys Dark the other day on special and was thinking of something like:

Tin Tooheys Dark
1kg LDME or 500g LDME + 1kg BE2
50-100g choc malt, steeped
Maybe a bit of goldings boiled for 10 mins
a couple of sachet's of coopers ale yeast and ferment in the high teens.

Anyone got some suggestions/feedback on this one?

Cheers,

Tim

Gday Timmy, I thought someone else would have replied by now so here is my 2c.
I would use at least 500g Dark dried malt extract, if not 750g, and then maybe 250-500 g dex.
Do a bittering boil of at least 40 min to balance malt, and add flavour/aroma @ 20-10 min.
can't comment on choc malt, haven't used it.
Do you have a beersmith or brewmate?
Cheers

Hey Rotten,

I don't have any DDME so was going to cheat by using LDME + choc. Probably a good idea about the extra bitterness required though.

I do use Beersmith but was planning this one as a 'free-form'. Will post back with my results...

Cheers,

Tim

Now, now don't let that southern bias get in the way - we were talking finals and that equals any recipe talk when you're team is playing. 8)
