I bottled my wetpak as in the thread title today. It's my 1st wetpak and my 7th kit brew.
It got FG1010 and a neat yellow colour to the beer.

It smells errr, tastes a bit yuk too. Is this normal for this mix or could I actually have my 1st infection?
Everything went as per instructions. These paks you have to simmer boil for like 60mins. So I did.

Only made this batch for my mate who won't drink beer with me.

Can you describe how it tastes? Exactly what sort of "yuk" are you picking up in the flavour and aroma?

As with what Lachy was saying, we'll need you to describe the taste. Is it sour, taste like wet dog, taste like wet cardboard, taste like vinegar? Does it taste grassy or metallic? Try and describe the taste as best as you can and we should be able to tell you if it needs aging or if it's been infected.

It is nothing like my other brews, which shall I say I am understanding the maturing flavours now. Every week they change.
That dark choc ale is beaut, though it's still confused between its bitterness and its sweetness, so it will be sitting in wait for next winter.

On a more serious note, if it tastes like an alsatian then it's probably rooted. Labrador flavour is acceptable.

Lime and coriander can make for some unusual flavours.
But i could be barking up the wrong tree

If it's tolerable then I'd say to hold off on wolfing it down for the moment and let it get a bit older. It won't learn any new tricks then, but it may mature a bit and mellow out. I think you'd be barking mad to roll over and tip it out.

At the risk of ignoring Dr Harry's Homebrew Tips for a minute, these descriptors have me kinda worried. Kit twang does seem to come across as a slight sourness for some in some beers (myself included) but vomit is a different matter entirely. I agree that you shouldn't tip it until you are certain but I'd be making sure I tasted quite often to watch for it getting worse.

MMm Bum, it's a chemical regurtitated smell. The taste is sour but not too much. But then it's been a few days now, what would I remember.

Got a Traditional Coopers Draught going now with 500g LDM and 60g Cascade hops. Now that smells grouse.

Right! Here is the go;

2 weeks in the bottle, opened one up yesterday and had a sniff. Oh damn I thought.
Poured half a glass, it looked nice. Really nice.
Had a sniff, erggh, and then took a nip in the mouth. Errmm, yeh no bad after taste?

Poured a glass and handed it to the wife to taste test, (with a smile on my dial)." Mmmm, not bad, it tastes like beer".
Nil comment on the smell.

I poured a glass, and then proceeded to drink. Mmmm, a good hot summers day beer. Thirst quenching for sure.

It's obviously a strong aroma from the citrus (lime) with the coriander doing something too. But it is nice and would be a good beer for someone who may not really appreciate the traditional beer taste. Even sort of addictive. (moreish)

I'm a fan, although I do warn those who haven't tried before. It is different, very different. It could almost be a soft drink.
