Beamish Stout Recipe

Postby Jacko_NZ » Friday Mar 20, 2009 10:42 am

Hi Guy's,

Am thinking of giving the following recipe a crack over the weekend. It's from the Brewcraft International Classics pdf.

1 can of Premium Imported Irish Stout
170g Choc grain
200g Roasted Barley
500g Dry Wheat Malt
500g Dark Dried Malt
15g Goldings at 5 mins
SAF-04
18L in total.

It's supposed to be a copy of the Beamish Stout. Has anyone done this recipe? I have everything on the list apart from the kit which I will buy tomorrow. Any thoughts on if this should be a good one or any improvements? I'm almost tempted to replace the kit with some dark liquid extract but then I guess I would have to add some bittering hops too? I have crystal as well and see this added to a few stout recipes, does it add much to a stout? Not sure we want the caramel type flavours coming through on this one do we?

Cheers
