Has anyone tried brewing perry (i.e. pear brew)?

I want to try this, eventually...

Has anyone had experience with brewing perry?

I guess it would be just like brewing a cider: jucing the fruit and then boiling some of the solids up in a bag, popping it all in the fermenter and pitching the yeast.
