Ginger beer with lager yeast

Postby jmnug2 » Friday Jul 25, 2008 4:08 pm

Could a lager yeast be used to brew a ginger beer or would it not work for some reason.
I have:
- 0.5kg light malt extract
- 0.5kg dex
- 0.5kg lactose

I plan to use all this, a brewcraft ginger beer kit, 200g of grated ginger and some yeast nutrient.

does this recipe sound alright? what could be added to improve the beer? lemons???

it'll be fine with the lager yeast at the correct temperature. if you add some lemon, don't go beyond a couple i reckon, and don't let any of the white pith get in, it's bitter.

Yeah, drop the lactose. The artificial sweetener will definitely be enough.

Ditch the tin full of artificial sweeteners - your liver will thank you.
