No. It will be screen grabs with me running you thru how to setup beersmith initially and others helpful hints.

Some photos to go with the yeast sticky would have been helpful i must admit...

Has this thread and my responses helped you understand the yeast starter technique? Are you confident that the next time you do it you will get it right?

Hey Dr,

Don't want to speak for GYM, but I can say that your posts are very helpful, you are generous with your info and I'm sure most would appreciate your efforts.

Love to buy you a beer one day.

Might fine looking recipe there Gym!

Have you used amarillo before?

The first time i used it the mates were not impressed.

"Your beer tastes like fruit" - turns nose up.

Now, they go for the golden ale on tap every time!

1272 amercian ale II yeast can be a little fruity and since you most likely underpitched i reckon thats prob where the fruitiness is coming from. That and the stonefruit flavour/aroma of amarillo.

I agree it's a good looking recipe.

However, personally not being a fan of Amarillo at all, I think using Northern Brewer and Cascade, and US05 or liquid equivalent, fermented at 18ºC, will also give you a very nice American Pale Ale, without the overt fruitiness mentioned by Gym.

That'd also work.

The only time I used Amarillo in a brew, I just couldn't get over the feeling I had made liquid fruit salad.
It eventually came around after a few months, and turned out quite a nice drink, but Amarillo is still not a hop I would personally use again.
I realise it is mighty popular with lots of brewers. Then again, JS Amber Ale is what got me into more craft oriented brews, followed by Little Creatures. Not that much of a fan of JS Golden Ale.

That's the beauty of homebrewing, brew what you like, and what you like to drink. Plenty of room for personal tastes and differences.
