Hi Speedie,

Yes, it's been pretty quiet in the past few weeks.

I hope there's not a correlation between me having been posting a bit more and fewer posts from others!

an update on beer awards
on friday night we had the gala beer dinner which had around two hundred people attend
the food a beer pairing was put together quite well

swam brewery picked up major awards feral got the best beer award again
paul holgate must be happy that his brew was awarded a trophy
brendon from west coast picked up the ameture award and best beer

i placed two gold and six bronze medals
yesterday the public open(tickets only) tasting day was on which of course leads too more overconsumption of mans best drink
of coarse i has a responsible consumer (?)

this will be a thorn in bums side as the brew (wicked ale day post) that i recultered the rogues yeast(pacman) placed gold
so it would appear that the supposed mutation of the strain didnt happen and the beer judges found it worthy of the highest points

would any of you guys that have access to the other site drop them a line and mention my achievements
as i am sure that they will be more than pissed that a boofoon can make good beer

well thats another year of brewing out the way so it looks like i will have to get out the stainless steel vessels and start again
cheers speedster

Good work (and good wort :-)), Speedie. Don't suppose you have any of the recipes handy? Or are they already posted somewhere?

Cheers,

Oliver

EDIT: Found one of the recipes, for the Citra brew

Wait a moment there by my recollection you make several hundred litres at a time and out of 16 entries you only got 8 medals, whilst well done on the golds you have eight beers that failed to even make bronze meaning they have reasonble to significant technical flaws, being each beer was several hundred litre batchs that means you have a few thousand litres of less then average beer.

I know this is a negative post but I think has some merit.

Speedie, you appear to have now turned your fight towards beersmith and its users. Congrats on your winning, but please explain your attack on people who use a software program to adjust and record brews. Is this another attack on Dr. Smurto after last night's deleted posts where after bragging about your unsubstaniated winnings he stated simply that his golden ale had been added to the BeerSmith 2 recipe data base.

Once again well done on your winnings and not using a computer to record and adjust records. I use Beersmith, it's not essential but for $20 it beats 15 years of exercise books.

By the way, didn't enter any brews into this year's show. Given the fact that I use BeerSmith and didn't enter does that automatically mean that my beer is no good?

Yes it does Hirns, in fact there is millions of litres of beer all around the country that should be tipped, mine included.

I think I'll tip mine down my throat.
