Hey guys

I have 5 weeks to make a beer and have it bottle conditioned for my 30th birthday party.

So far on my menu for my party is:

CPA
Dark Ale
Hefeweisbier

I Need 1 more that will be good to drink at a young age (dark beers are pretty much out i think)
By the time it primes in the bottles it will be 2 maybe 3 weeks old depending on ferment time.

I am thinking Imperial IPA.

Any suggestions on a beer style that will taste great young and is different to the above beers already made.

1 other option is Aussie Bitter and keg it, Force carb and cold condition.

If you've got a keg to use then you're golden - you can do any ale (except very high gravity ones that need aging, lower grav dark beers could be back on the table if you like). May even have time to sneak in a simple lager if you want.

I'd want an IIPA too but maybe that's not so punter friendly? You'd know your crowd, of course. Maybe an APA might sit better?

But yeah, the point is that with kegs 5 weeks gives you plenty of time for many styles. World is your oyster.

Yup. With 10 days primary & 3 days CC, you'd be left with three whole weeks for it to settle and clear up.

Even still, it may not be the clearest beast going (unless you fine or filter, of course) so maybe something with a bit of colour could be the go?

You also won't have enough time to let strong, roasty flavours mellow out, though, so don't be too heavy-handed with dark spec malts.

Whatever you choose to do, just know that I think your suggested Aussie Bitter is an awful idea!

I had some of those in my crowd.

Note the use of the word 'had.'

A certain golden ale would be fine in 5 weeks. I am not allowed to attend the annual boys camping trip without at least 1 keg of golden ale. It's the first beer they pencil in during our planning meeting*.

You can get away with 10 days primary, 3-4 days crash chill with some finings added (gelatine as long as noone is vego/vegan, polyclar). Bottle and condition until needed.

* planning meeting is when they rock up to my place, drink my beer, talk about how excited we are to be going on the trip again and then decide on exactly the same menu as last year and whatever beer on tap they like in addition to the golden ale..... No actual planning involved but it gets it past their other halves.

ive been meaning to brew that golden ale for some time, i have done the extract version before but not the AG.

i can remember it being great right from the start.

or.... i could do a stone and wood pacific ale clone....
so many choices.

40% wheat
60% pilsner

Galaxy hops ~ 20IBU
60 min addition
small 20m addition
Very big dry hop addition 1 day before bottling. (30 - 40g)

US 05 yeast.

Sorry, in answer to your original question I'd have said CPA but you already had that covered.

Second thoughts, Boonies LCPA goes down way too easily.
