Biz's Express Wig and Pen Experience

Been to a good pub, or bad, lately? Found a bar with a great selection of beer? Looking for a new local or somewhere to visit on holidays?

Biz's Express Wig and Pen Experience

Post by Bizier »

I went to the Wig & Pen in Canberra for the first time today.

I had very little time, so I rolled up my sleeves and got straight down to work on things.

Had half pints of the following:
UK Bitter
Kolsh
(Sweet?) stout - the velvet one
Irish Red
UK IPA
US IPA - Hopidemic
US IIPA - Venom

all over the course of 45 minutes.

I have to say that I enjoyed everything imensely except the stout/dark one, but I wasn't exactly in a pondering frame of mind either. I tried some samples of APAs and a galaxy ale, but they seem to be increasingly not my thing.

Anyway, I am really impressed by the standard of product. The brewer is obvioulsy allocated a decent hop budget, and it is good to see this occur. Seemingly Sydney is still in the dark on such matters as aroma.

After a ride back to Sydney, I am feeling pretty ordinary right now... But I think had a decent crack given my time limitation.

No Randall unfortunately... Though the IPAs were not exactly lacking in luplin.

I have to say that the English IPA on handpump was freakin' awesome. Nearly enough for me to get a government job.
