As a matter of fact you can impart some real off flavours into the beer with a lager brewed to high. I got one running late summer with a San Francisco Lager yeast (Steam Beer) Temps were about 5 degrees on the high side and the stuff tasted like I put the babies nappies in the wort.
My neighbour drank it OK though. Gave him the scoots for a week. Nother story that.
