Im about to put down an Coopers Canadian Blonde I was going to use 1Kg of Dextrose and 500G of Light Dry Malt do you think I should cut down on the amount of Dextrose or use the whole 1kg and if I do will this increase the Alchohol content. :?

Ghost,

That will work fine. I found the Canadaian blonde was way to light for my Canadian pallet and needed the all malt help. Add something for a finishing hop and all will be well

I will go out on a limb and say POR or Centennial. I like mine a bit hoppy so beware

POR is about 8 AA
Centennial is 10 AA
Saaz is 2.8 (low but that is what it said)
Fuggle is 4 AA

I am not sure on POR as a Finisher although I am about to find out, I just bought a pound and will be in in a couple of weeks.

Probably get arrested on the way home for possesion :lol:

Canadian Blonde

Slightly off topic, but;

I used the canadian blonde as a base for my chilli beer. I used only 1kg dextrose for this. I bottled half with chilli and half without. It was a good base for it, crisp and refreshing just before the chilli started attacking the taste buds ;)

Without the chilli it is also quite nice, adding malt would make it fuller I believe as it is very "light".

I wouldn't use PoR, as I find it to have quite a harsh taste. Primarily it's a bittering hop.

Just me though.

Cheers,

Oliver

TX for the heads up. Never worked with it before and the HBS is bringing it in special. (why I had to buy a lb.)
