Facebook comes in usefull

Post by RUM57L »

.. Apparently you can search facebook for things for sale within your local area.. Yesterday I asked my Mrs who was searching for baby stuff etc to have a look for "beer / Homebrew" on facebook.

This lead to me picking up around 5 crates of homebrew bottles and a bottle drying board that fits 30 tallies.

Funny thing is the bottles are full, apparently brewed by the ladies now deceased german father, there is some identification on some of the bottles indicating the brews are lagers and are some are dark and others pale.

There is also a darwin stubby, 2.25 litre munich lager brewed in '06.

All the beer caps are rusty so obviously old, i opened one and it was still carbed up, poured quite well.. looked like a pale lager.. tasted like the old green hb taste.

Ended up with 54 long necks
I didnt count how many stubbies but probally around 30.
1 Darwin Stubby.
3 glass cordial bottles full of what i think is GIN...
1 drying board.

Not bad hey

Nice work. As you say, it seems that Facebook is good for something :D I, too, had no idea that you could use it that way but will have to give it a try now.

Let us know how the rest of the brews are.

If it's full of homebrew, I'd chill it, open it and drink it if it's OK.

If it's full of NT Draught, I'd chill it, open it, have a taste to remind yourself why you homebrew then tip the rest down the sink

I have an empty Darwin Stubby, which is in a cupboard. The beer was revolting - just CUB megaswill, but worse from what I remember.

I like the idea of using it as part of the process to step up a starter. Or put it on the bar. Or both, and just have it on display when it's not on starter duties.

Cheers,

Just joined on facebook to try and find the local classifieds, but buggered if i know how to search for it. Says in the wiki that they've had classifieds for years, but it comes up as nothing when i search?

Maybe you need to add it as an application or something? I'm not a big fan of facebook, so I'll gladly live without their classifieds.

I think Jeff's probably right. There are dozens of apps about classifieds: http://www.facebook.com/search.php?q=cl ... s&init=srp

Perhaps RUM57L can check with his lady about which one it was.
