i picked up a 19lt ss pot for $14 at "The Warehouse".

not heavy duty by any means, but for the $$$ you can't complain.

not too sure if these stores are nation wide or not.

I did exactly the same thing, though mine might have been the next size down.

I've been looking for a 25L ss pot.

Do I not need one that big?

What's the optimum size.

Yardie,

G&G sell them for a couple of hundred bucks.

Can I save by picking up a smaller pot?

General,
You need to factor in your boil volume, remembering that wort has a tendency to boil over, and also a way to get the boiled wort out.
The G&G pots are big enough and heavy gauge enough to cope with fitting an outlet tap, sight glass, thermometer, etc.
Salut!

A lot of the sites I have randomly visited show a old keg being used as a kettle, with the top cut off... anyone done this?

I have MHD, I use a keg setup for my all grains, works like a charm. I'm in the process of building a mobile brew bench for it all to sit on. Will post pic's when it's done.

Thanks everyone, think I'll find an empty keg, if you know what I mean.
