One Fifty Lashes Pale Ale
One Fifty Lashes Pale Ale
James Squire should rename this (beer?) One Lash Pale Ale...
Broome Pale Ale. WA's Finest Craft Beer.
Re: One Fifty Lashes Pale Ale
Not impressed? This is actually my 'go to' beer these days at a few pubs in Melbourne that have James Squire as their only "craft" beer offering. Still a damn sight better than the usual VB/Carlton/Tooheys/Blonde swill they have on tap.
Have you had their Stowaway IPA? I find that pretty ordinary for an IPA...a harsh bitterness with very little hop aroma or flavour to back it up. Hop Hog it aint.

I don't mind it but I did grow out of it pretty quickly
Re: One Fifty Lashes Pale Ale
I didn't mind it, but I had one a couple of days ago on tap during a quick visit down to Sydney, and found it somewhat lacking. Rather light on for malt, and with some, but not a lot of hop character.
I prefer the Stowaway IPA, which is on tap at my golf club at present. I think it's quite a good beer, at least it has a decent malt backbone, and a definite use of hops, harsh or otherwise.
Previously my club had the Porter on tap. It may not have been totally on style, but it was a very pleasant enjoyable drink. Amongst the plethora of taps at my club, the only ones which I'd ever consider are the JS one and Tooheys Old. Having said that, they do have Anchor Steam and Anchor Liberty Pale Ale in the bottle as well.

I've only had the Stowaway in bottles, so I wouldn't be surprised if the tap version was better. I'm loving that a golf club is progressive enough to be rocking ANY kind of IPA on tap though...

When my choices at the bar are VB, Carlton, Tooheys New, Blonde and One Fifty Lashes.....I'll take One Fifty Lashes every time.

That's a good point right there.
Water is the next best option.

I had lashes at a rural pub out near daylesford last year and was quite disappointed with it, I put it down to a guess that the local clientele were probably draught drinkers or vb. it was not in summer so I would assume the keg had been in storage for a while
