Pilsner Urquell $39.90 a Carton???? - Darwin Stubbies??

Postby Clean Brewer » Saturday May 24, 2008 11:03 pm

Hello all,

Im not to sure what the normal price is but was on my way home tonight from work and dropped into Dan Murphys to see if there was anything new around and I saw Pilsner Urquell for $39.90 a carton(very cheap I thought). I grabbed a sixer for $10.90, beatiful beer, so many different textures to it.

Is this price very cheap?

Also, I saw that they were selling Darwin Stubbies, I dont think ive ever seen one of these for sale. 2ltr for $34.99.
Have they come back in? Did they go anywhere? What are they like? Id be only interested for the bottle...

Yeah it's just tourist crap. Money would be better spent elsewhere. (unless you want a bottle for the bar)

Darwin Stubbies are an awesome bottle for homebrew. Heavy brown glass, roll top and 4 schooners in each bottle. An absolute crowd pleaser.

The beer that comes in them would be best drunk by someone else.

I've got a dozen or so that I scored from an associate in the recycling trade.

Cheers,
Greg

As gregb said, they are a bit of a party starter/crowd pleaser.. i have one, and try and put my better beers in.. last brew was a golden ale clone which went down a treat... Unfortunately, at the moment it has my pale ale monster (90IBUs) in it, which is getting better, but is too bitter to be enjoyed in session quantities...

They look heaps nicer and hold nearly as much. Sure to please the crowd! ;)
Prost and happy brewing!
