VB Raw

The good, the bad and the ugly of commercial beer and breweries, including microbreweries and craft breweries.

VB Raw

So it seems VB is upping the attempts to poison the masses by providing yet another lager on the market. My brother just got a job at 1st Choice and they gave him a bottle to sample so I'll try and get a taste and post some thoughts.

Anyone tried this drop yet?

My view is that if I'm going to criticise something I should at least know what I'm talking about so I will try it, likely only once though.

Finally sampled that VB Raw tonight.

Nothing special, as expected. Unlike the original VB though, it wasn't so disgustingly terrible and my kidneys remain intact. This beer can be described in one word. Lacking. It lacks any real flavour besides a little bit of hoppiness that is reminiscent of a carlton cold, but otherwise there's hardly anything there. I can imagine this would probably appeal to a lot of drinkers my age as it's so easy to drink. They've also gone to a bit of effort with the packaging. Everything is different and you wouldn't even realise it's a VB until you spot the small VB label at the top of the label. Otherwise it could be mistaken for any other beer.

Anyway, worth trying if you're curious as it won't kill you but if you want to enjoy your beer then I'd give this one a miss.

If they used saaz hops in that beer then they dredged it through the bottom of carlton cold fermenter first.

Well I finally tried it and agree with all of Wills comments.
Pretty inoffensive, unless you find water offensive.
I can taste Saaz, but shit it's mild.....maybe they use the teabags
