Is the Inner West of Sydney becoming a dry area

Postby Pommie » Tuesday Mar 04, 2008 1:00 pm

In the past year or so 3 HBSs have closed in the IW of Sydney, Countrybrewer in Drummoyne, Brewcraft in Rozelle and Brewhaus in Marrickville. Its like the Bermuda triangle around here and I now have no Kegsonlegs bottle swap option near me :(

Is anyone else finding that the local HBS is dieing out with everyone shopping on-line.

Used to love my 1-2 hours in the shop sampling the wares
Pubs serve beer in schooners because the heat warms the beer. Cant we have the beer in pints and drink faster?

Margins are thin in HB Shops.... sometimes as low as 10%.. High rents, online shops and Coles will spell the death of them. Bit of a shame but that's how it goes I guess.

The guy at Asquith HBS told me he sells 70% beer and 30% Spirits making gear but its the Spirits that get him over half his profit.
