Free to a good home - Craftbrewer Weizen Yeast!

Postby pixelboy » Tuesday Jul 22, 2008 7:42 pm

I bought these earlier this year and have kinda gone off the style... so I doubt ill be using them.

Twin pack of Weizen craftbrewer label still in the shrink wrap stuff Ross uses.... best before June 09. Been in the fridge since I got them.

Ross wrote:Specially selected for wheat beer and weizen
beer styles, CraftBrewer Weizen (AKA WB-06) produces subtle ester
& phenol flavors typical of these styles of beer

Come up with a creative swap or Ill just send em out! Whatever.. better than going to waste in my fridge!

G'day Doc,

I'll take 'em off your hands.

PM me the postage costs.

I don't mind a wheat beer with lots of Amarillo :D

Cheers

Boonie

I still have to get through a couple of Ross' Munich wheat dry yeasts. So far I've done two batches with it, but although it leaves a clean and very refreshing beer, it hasn't given me the banana / bubblegum I'm looking for. Having said that, I am currently enjoying a dunkelweizen brewed with it, but that depends less on the aroma and more on the malt quality.
The German wheat dry yeast gives a more spicy and clove like character.
Once I've used up my dry wheat yeasts, I'll move on to the Wyeast ones to give me, hopefully, the character I'm looking for.

Anyway, hope you gents enjoy your brews with those yeasts.

Thanks pixie....

btw - My HBS man told me that you can get the fruity esters from this by fermenting higher. Dunno if it's true....

Thanks Pix - I got them in the mail on Friday!

I have a fave k&k hefeweizen that I've been using Wyeast 3068 in and I'll do it with this to compare.

Cheers,

Tim
