anyone been to the lowenbrau in sydney?

Been to a good pub, or bad, lately? Found a bar with a great selection of beer? Looking for a new local or somewhere to visit on holidays?

Been there a few times. On a friday/saturday night the place is so packed you can hardly move. Great beer, haven't had a meal there yet but have been told the food is great.

Went their for october fest where the opened up a court yard and had 5 bars happening. Was FANTASTIC.

I'm not that impressed by it myself. The beer is average, and the food is uninspiring.

It wasn't me who promised Linsay, it was our now absent friend.

I love it there, I make sure I drop in for a litre stein or 3 of their Franziskaner Weisbeir whenever I am in Sydney.

Then I'll have a whinge about it!
Stayed there for an afternoon, a Saturday as I recall. Had a 'couple' of those huge steins of original.

Even bought one instead of trying to pilfer it out the door under my jumper.

When I bought my last beer the barman short changed me by about $40!!!!!

I was a bit tipsy but that was so blatant even I noticed it! When I brought it to his attention he put another $30 on the tray. I guess I was still shortchanged but I accepted that (the bloke ran off to serve someone ese after dropping down the coin).

Why they insist on placing change on a tray with a hope of gaining a tip is beyond me when their till is THAT far over at the end of the night.

I left 'voluntarily' very soon after that!

I've had a couple nights there getting Schnit faced!! Go sample some beers then tackle the Pork schnitzel - if you manage to finish it - you get a shot of schnapps..... good deal and not hard to nail after you've had a few beers...... but the place gets packed!!

$9.50 a pint or something from memory. Don't make it your 'local'.

i love it there, alway's get polished. Its best to book a table so you are paying a decent price for beer, but it's at least table service and the food is awesome, try and finish a shpatzplatten (sp?), every meat under the sun.

The Dunkel is great, the franziskanna pale is great, they also have a bunch of new draughts available, like hofbrau, and lowenbrau's pils wich is a lovely beer. you pay a premium for the experiance, its a nice heritage building and the entertainment is pretty fun, i made it out with a spaten half stien the other week, whoo hoo!
