Honey APA/Braggot

Post by headwithwings »

Last week in Colorado I was able to pick up 5lbs of local Durango honey for a bit over 5$.
Damn good deal I thought. Now i need something to do with it and have in my mind some kind of weird APA/Braggot fusion thing.
So here is what i'm thinking.

Brew Type: Partial Mash

Ingredients
Pre boil "tea"
1.00 lb Caramel/Crystal Malt - 20L
1.00 lb Honey Malt
1.00 lb Pale Malt (2 Row)
Boil
4.00 lb Extra Pale Liquid Extract
1.00 lb Wheat Liquid Extract
Hops
2.00 oz Cascade (60 min)
0.50 oz Cascade (30 min)
0.50 oz Goldings, East Kent (30 min)
1.00 oz Goldings, East Kent (15 min)
0.50 oz Cascade (5 min)
0.50 oz Goldings, East Kent (5 min)
At flame out
5.00 lb Honey
Yeast
1 Pkgs California Ale (White Labs #WLP001)

ANY thoughts or suggestions are very welcome. :D

Yum!!!

Wheat + Honey + Cascade works really nicely IMO.

Matilda Bay here in Oz uses a 1/3 barley + 1/3 wheat + 1/3 honey to make their Beez Neez. I've made something similar using extracts and it came out lovely.

Cheers,
