Redback Crystal

Hi All,

I am fairly new to the world of brewing, however, one of my favorite beers is Matilda Bay's Redback Crystal. I was curious to know if any of you have managed to brew a beer similar at home, and if so, if you'd be willing to share a recipe.

Hi Viceroy. Any Wheat beer kit will do. You could add some Sazz hops (12g) to the fermenter. Remember to keep everything VERY clean. And keep the fermenter as close to 18 degrees celsius as possible. gl.

I remember hearing that this stuff is fermented as a lager - I'd agree after tasting it.

Give the guys at Matilda Bay a shout because they've helped me in the past trying to replicate Beez Neez.

The difference between a hefeweizen and a crystalweizen is that the latter is filtered, or in the case of most commercial versions, they filter both and re-yeast the hefe.

I think that lager yeast and low temp is on the right track. And maybe consider fining it if you want the clarity.

Another route to consider is to get your taste buds around some other wheat beer examples such as hefeweizen (the yeasty one) from Franziskaner, Weihenstephaner, Shofferhofer or Schneider Weiss and brew a "Cloudy" Hefeveizen with the yeast still in it.
