I was in Plastics Unlimited today and they had food-grade 58-litre vats for some serious coin, about $60. Thinking of getting one so I can do a double brew to save time and effort. Anyone tried one?
Also had a look at some watering system filters for the home garden, thinking I could use it for filtering when transferring into the carboy. Only thing that put me off was the pretty distinct plastic smell of the stuff. Again, has anyone tried anything like this?
Mind, there was also a 200-odd litre bucket as well ...

I had a look in the local camping store & they sell 30-60ltr water storgae containers.
They basically look like carboys but the lid is bigger, but basically the same!
Price = $43.50 for 30ltr
This would be ideal for racking!

Jack,
Bunnings have 25l water containers, with a screw in bung and lid with rubber seal for about $18 you can get a screw in tap for $1.50 from them also; a much cheap option.
These are really only good for secondary and not primary fermenters as there isn't a great deal of head space for krausen in the primary, if you do 23l brews that is.
Cheers
