Thanks

porridge,

give B.O.C a call, most industrial estates have an outlet, or someone similar.

failing that, i suppose you could ask at your local where they get their beer gas from.

rental on mine's about 100 for twelve months.

filling is 28 or thereabouts.

I have heard of people sourcing their own cylinders and having them filled-no rental fee.

Shit Shane,

Mines $17.95 for 12 months, with $19.95 for a refill (4.5kg)

porridge wog, you're in nsw so you are going to pay over $100 for a cylinder from either BOC or aire liquide. The $20 rental is for victorians AL, and they old are steel and not available in NSW.

instead of $120 rental, I bought mine from kegsonlegs http://www.mykegonlegs.com.au/ well through a home brew shop anyway!
$300 filled and I own it.

yardie,

I get about 8-9 months out of a bottle which is around 20-25 kegs, not sure if this is average or not.

Maybe just grab the mad brewers way of using it!

 thanks grab.

25 kegs, that's a lot better than i expected, i'm collating all the info i can get on getting kegged, so this helps.

what do you reckon about that kegonlegs set-up ?

the kegonlegs idea looks interesting!

Neil at my local HBS is investigating a similar idea through a mob in Perth.

With the 20-25 kegs I mainly naturally carb my kegs so save on gas there by not force carbing, not sure how much gas that saves though!

here's another company that does it - though their bottles are smaller http://www.air-up.com.au/home_brew.html

they claim 18 kegs for 2.3 kg - mine is 6.8kg, so probably will get 18 months including wastage -i use co2 in empty kegs, play around withem a little too much - the co2 is the cheap part - the bottle - not quite!

If you have an accurate weighing machine, you can montior how much co2 you have, about 10kgs to start, when it gets to 4 kg you could take it to change it over if it requires a trip -

pw, you could ring around your local gas suppliers/agents, and ask if they will refill a brand new cyclinder inside its inspection date - explain to them and see?
