Afternoon all,
Just a quick one to let you know that I picked up a slab of proper imported Stella (as opposed to the 'brewed under licence' rubbish they've been passing off as Stella) at Dan Murphys in Vermont this morning for $45. A pretty good deal for real Stella methinks.

Is it any different?
did you have to check the lable, or was it advertised in the shop?

Blandy in my humble opinion, the stuff they brew down on the banks of the Yarra is little different from most of the other 'beer' they brew down there at CUB. Real Stella tastes like....well, real Stella. The box was clearly marked imported, and the contents also clearly marked.
KEG, sorry it's the one at Brentford Square, on Canterbury Road near Forest Hill.

Banger, can you do a blind side by side comparison for us?
Cheers,
Greg

Stella, Heineken, Corona - all better when imported.
I know someone who owns a bar in Bondi. He gets it all from a company which imports it. The funny thing is, he lands it for $19 a case - whereas he can not get it anywhere near that even if buying direct from the breweries in Australia for the "branded" megaswill. Quite often the cheapest he can get it is around $25-30, and often that is from a bottle shop on special. So, there is much to say for importing the beer from a taste perspective for the customer, and a cost/profit perspective from a bar owner.

Greg,
Happy to do a blind test for you. Will probably take 6 of each to be certain, so if you can organise the beers, I'll taste them for you..
