Ginger beer bubbling over?

Hi

I just started my first ever homebrew :D . I've decided to start with alcoholic ginger beer and are using the coopers micro-brew kit.
I started the brew on sunday evening and have the fermenter on a heat pad so the temperature is at about 27 deg.
On day 1 I didn't see alot of action, day 2 started to see foam building on top, and now on day 3 it is bubbling all the way out
of the air lock  !

Is this normal, and will it allow infection to get thru?
Thanks for any info
MikeD

Should be fine...

take the airlock out, wash, sanitise fill with cooled boiled water and put it back in... should be fine.

27 is a bit high... about 20c is better (for ales and gingers)

thanks i'll do that. As far as the temp. goes my choices are 27* with matt or flutuating between approx. 8* at night to approx. 15-18* during the day. which do you think would be the best option?

put the matt on a timer.. run for 1 hr on 2 hrs off at night and 30mins on 3 hrs off during the day! Also wrap with blanket to minimise heat loss.

I do that with a heated cord.. keeps the brews snug @ 19c out in the shed!
