Re: coopers dark ale

A favourite of mine.

The Coopers homebrew Dark Ale is the closest to any commercial product that you can brew from a can.

Good quality drop.

Grolsch.

Tried my first one, poured into a glass from the 473 ML swingtop bottle.

Thick on the palate for a lager, but very tasty, classy. Grainy and hoppy.

Nice beer, but i wouldn't buy it again. Lots of beer around of the same quality, that are cheaper.

If anyone hasnt looked at this, its a really good read. Oliver and Geoffs angle on just about any beer you can think of. Geez they've gone through some beers.

Grab your favourite brew and have a read. :D http://homebrewandbeer.com/reviews.html

Re: Brew Day at my place - all welcome

Top effort for you opening your house up drsmurto :D

If i lived in Adelaide, i'd be the first to take up your invite. God knows i'd love to brush up on my mashing skills.

I'm four hours drive away, so maybe next time i might make a trip of it. And swing past Grumpy's too. Good luck for tomorrow ...

Re: Coopers Mild Ale

It's a nice drop, as far as Milds go ( far better than any other MidStrength beer )

I do prefer Coopers Pale Ale, or Dark Ale though. That little bit more alcohol definatly adds to the flavour.

Re: James Squire IPA.

I used do like their Amber Ale - it got me into all grain brewing in fact, but for the last few years the amber ale has been very disappointing.

Cheers,
TL

I used to like the Amber too TL. But it just doesn't cut it alongside the IPA.

I reckon your Braniac enough to throw me a Partial recipe ...

Re: James Squire IPA.

Before i wrap my tastebuds around it this evening, is it a traditional IPA in the sense that its higher ABV and hoppy? When i do get around to making an IPA i want to make it old school. Its a big beer after all.

As for the munich, will be putting a touch in with an ESB this weekend as the MO ...

Re: Nasties in beer

I had an experience at a local pup a while back where I was sitting down having a couple of coldies after work, like you do, and just got to the bottom of my second scooie and wouldn't you know it a cockroach egg. As I am sure I didn't order a meal with my beer I was quite angry.I am no longer ...

Re: The Best beer you ever had

Just in keeping with the topic, one beer that i really, really enjoyed was at the Ettamogah Pub, NSW.

We had been travelling all day, destination the Blue Mountains, and it was very hot. Pulled into the pub for some photos and a quick beer. The old man handed me a pint of an icey cold house tap ...

James Squire IPA.

Just tried a few of these. Very nice. Quite deep in colour with a nice malt taste, but very hoppy and bitter. Just how i like it. Almost reminded me of a nice English Bitter. Of all the JS beers, this is my favourite.

Anyone else had a go ?

Re: How long does a fermenter last?

As long as you dont scrub them with abrasive cloths, use only soft cloths, they should last indefinately.

Every now and again i soak mine in an odourless bleach solution overnight, to make sure no bugs get hold, then rinse with boiling water three or four times.

Take the taps apart and wash ...
