Higher OG without increasing final alcohol content?
Hello all. I'm about to brew an extract oatmeal stout this weekend. I was wondering if anyone could suggest how I may be able to increase the OG of the beer (and the FG for that matter) without necessarily increasing the final alcohol content?

My lager has frozen
Hello all,
I brewed a lager recently and was cold conditioning the bottled beer in a small fridge. Being slightly slow on the complexities of refrigeration mechanics, I turned it down too low and the beer froze in the bottles. They had been primed and bottled 10 days earlier.

Lagering
Hello all,
I've just brewed a lager and bottled it yesterday. It was brewed using W-34/70 yeast and given the hot weather, I could only keep the temperature down to about 17c. I only have the one fermenter so I wasn't able to rack and cold condition the beer in a secondary.
I was wondering though ...

Where is the head?
Hello all,
I've put down a few batches, and from early on I've gone with a kit and malt (no dextrose or extra sugar). Some have had grain added also.
I'm sure the answer appears somewhere within this forum but at the risk of revealing my stupidity to you all I'll ask again, why doesn't my beer ...

Hi,
Long time listener, first time poster.
To keep an eye on the temperature of the grains, I bought a candy thermometer which dips into the liquid. From there I just adjusted the stove top to keep it between 70 and 80c.
I got the thermometer from Howard's Storage for about $10.
