Hi everybody. Dark beer, not too bitter?
My partner and I have been doing homebrew for a while now but i am really fussy as the the type of beer i like and it is started to get hard to find recipes, i like the darker beers, not too bitter( i am a great fan of James Squires Porters) and the more chocolate flavour the better
if anyone could help with a recipe i would be most grateful. This is our first posting so please be gentle!!

We face the eternal drinking problem two hands, one mouth.
I made a nice milk stout a couple of months back that my wife really loves. ( I love it too in the interests of gender equality).
1 x Blackrock Miner's Stout.
1kg Dried dark malt extract
500gr powdered lactose
125gr Choc grain
25gr Crystal grain
20gr Goldings hop pellets (boil for 15 min)
Batch size: 21ltr
Safale yeast.
I mashed the grain in about 1ltr of water at about 65 - 70c on the stove top for about 45 min. (Not even sure if this was necessary).
Anyway, I'm sure mistakes were made along the way but the beer has turned out very well indeed.
Hope it helps.

I have never exploded. But, I know what it would be like. Don't ask me how, I just know. I've always, just known. - Garth Marenghi
The Cascade Choc Mahogany Porter would probably also be a good one for you to try. I make it with Morgans MB Beer Enhancer but have one in the fermenter at the moment with Crystal malt - trying for an even more chocolate taste.
If you like JS porters you should also try Black Sheep Ale and Gosser Dark Beer

Ash,
Yeah, that was the recipe I used. I'm sure it's not perfect by any measure but the flavour turned out how I was hoping. I wouldn't use any more Choc though. 125grams is certainly enough.
