can you use wheatbix as a substitute for torrefied wheat ,i have been thinking about a london pride clone and the recipe i have calls for 150g of torrified wheat is it the same and do i use 150g of wheatbix instead,also flaked maize is called for in fullers ESB ,what is flaked maize

a friend of mine puts 150g of wheat dme into his beers ,so his recipe would be 1 tin coopers lager ,500g ldme 500 g dex and 150g of wheat malt with ans23 yeast brewed at 10degrees ,he says the wheat makes a big difference in flavour and head retention ,would this be true ,has any body any experience ...

just been drinking a few abbot ales at a pub in perth called the vernon arms in Baldivis ,if you are in WA get there by hook or crook ,very good beer on tap and bottled ,has anybody got a partial or mash recipe for this ale ,many thanks sid

does anybody cut thier beer out dip tube so that any sediment gets left behind in the keg mine are about 3 mil from the bottom of the keg so would cutting 5 mil off get you clearer beer ,any help please

has anybody used betadine as a steriliser , its available at 40 dollars for 2 litres from vetinary suppliers , sounds cheaper than brewshop ,what rate of dilution would you use , any ideas , it must be similar to iodophor , any help please ,sid.

I use the tooheys lager with a BE2 and 15 grams of tettnang or willamette for 15 min boil , and a S23 yeast that i repitch 5 or 6 times , this makes a cheap very drinkable lager , better thanthe coopers lager ,it mutures a lot quicker , so tou can let your all malt beers sit for longer and guzzle ...

yes straight bitter , but i thought malt added sweetness ,which i dont want , i want the ibus in ithe kit ,and then add a tin of amber malt which gives you the added benefits of body ,head retention ,depth of colour ,and other things (generally a better beer )but i dont want the sweetness of the ...

thanks for the info , ithought a 10 minute boil would only give you aroma or flavour,but no bitterness to offset the 1.1 kilos of liquid malt , i hate sweet beer ,would add a kilo of dex ,but like a beer with body ,so going the malt ,just worried about sweetness

amber malt extract
i want to do an english bitter and i have a tin of amber malt ,how much in grams of hops (cascade 6%) will i need to boil and for how long to offset the sweetness of the malt ,wiil be adding a tin of muntons bitter and want to keep the bitterness of the kit . is there a simple explanation please

didnt do og ,fg but bottled some and they havent exploded ,so must have been ,left it for 3 weeks ,was definatly fermenting at the start,bubling like a two year old in the bath, so not sure ,didnt think IPA was meant to be sweet

Did a muntons IPA with a brewcraft english bitter converter and a Nottingham yeast ,brewed at about 25 degrees ,thats it ,no grain nothing else ,it is sickly sweet ,is this correct (first time ipa brewer),and what can i do to bitter it ,now in keg ,
