i was thinking of trying the yeast starter because i read it reduces chance of infection in the beer through the yeast using up sugar quickly-preventing bacteria growing.
what grains might work? i just cracked my second brew tonight which was a dry lager concentrate with dark malt/dextrose ...

hmmm,
i have not put yeast in a cup before and i have fermented other brews ok.
others swear by it. it would make the process of brewing slightly more exciting perhaps.

another question- what then is draught beer as opposed to lager, pilsner, old etc etc? i had a squiz in beer types but it wasn't there.
beer types are as bad as music genres man.

a)used it?
b) thought it was good?
