when carbonating using the ross method (rocking for 50 sec and seeong where the guage falls) do you need the beer to be cold or can you just fill the keg and do it straight away?

just put down a coopers draught with kit yeast 24 hrs ago and there is a lot of foam forming, so much so it is almost touching the fermenter lid. Is this ok, have down 40 or so batches and never had this happen before ?

thinking of kegging
Have been brewing for a few years now, really enjoy making and love drinking the stuff. But am sick to death of washing, sanitising, capping bottles ect.
Thinking of kegging but have heard that the beer has a limited life span in the keg.
This may be a ploblem as i like to leave my beers a while ...

any need for racking
Have been brewing for a few year now with 50 or so batches under my belt, keep hearin g that you should rack into a second fermenter. Have hav'nt ever doon this. All my beer are clear with basically no sediment.
What are the advantages of racking then?
Have got a few spare fermenters.
