thanks Dr thats explained alot.
Change the brew for the day and all is well, will get another packet of pilsner yeast and start again. Next time i'll plan a little better. And concentrate more.

Yes i do have plenty of dry as back up. I will drain the liquid yeast. Can you explain to me though why putting in more ldme than i should have has had such an effect. Am i not just supplying the yeast with more food?

Normally warra that is excatly what I do but I want to use the yeast tomorrow and had some yeast washed and ready to split and wanted to use that. I have just put it in a starter but in my slightly dazed, not concentrating getting over gastro state I put a kg of ldme, not 100g in my 1litre starter ...

Its probably been in the fridge for 3 weeks if not a little longer.
So dr if I make up a 1 or 2 litre start now and then just pour the whole thing into the wort when i ready?

Started it with a 2l 200g and its now in a 5l started bubbling its ass of. The guy at G&G said this strain of yeast often trie's to start fermenting on its own thats why the packet was swollen but the nutrient hadn't been popped. Yeah, I normally start with a litre and finish with a 5l, I was going to use it anyway just wondered if anyone had had the same thing happen.

Just went to the fridge to take out a packet of Wyeast American Pale Ale and found it to already be swollen. Its been in there for a month and a half but I have not activated it. It wasn't swollen when I bought it. Is it still ok to us?

With the Bazoka T where did you get the mesh from. On YouTube I have seen a few people taking the inside out of flexable stainless tap connections and then just using the outer mesh that is left for the pick up in thier mash tun. Is this where you got the mesh from or can you buy it seperatly ...

Im looking to improve my mashtun, have looked at maybe getting a Rubbermaid cooler like yours, Have good supply of beer kegs thanks to my local publican, would it be fesable to make one from a keg and then as you said have a burner under it?

Have cut my keg top out and bought a glass lid that fits the top perfect, now just have to decide if I should buy a none weld tap from G&G or to go the the reece and get the stuff I need and have my mate weld one on.

Well my first Oktoberfest is bubbling away nicely. Had a few issues keeping the temp up in the mini mash. Hit the stike temp spot on at 66C, using 74C water. But after 15mins open it to give it a stir and check temp and it dropped to 60C. Added small amounts of boiling water but didn't want to water ...
