If you get the indentation on the cap, have alook at the inside of the bell. There is a black spring loaded thing inside which can be pushed back with your thumb. This is the indentation maker. Just oil the outside of the black thing and push it in and out a few times to lubricate well, wipe off any ...

Formula to correct SG for temp

I am looking for the formula to correct the SG for temperature variations. It needs to be for a hydrometer which has been calibrated at 20 deg C. It can be complicated since I will be using it in a spreadsheet. At this point I could only get one that corrects for a calibration temp of 60 deg F ...

This is what Wikipedia has to say about draught beer.

Draught beer (also called draft beer or tap beer) is beer that has been served from, or has been conditioned in, a cask or pressurized keg.

"New" re-usable 750ml bottle from Coopers

I understand from the Coopers site that the the Pale Ale and Sparkling Ale will in future be supplied in non screw cap type Longnecks to allow the home brewers to re-use these bottles. Has anyone seen this and if you did, does it look as if it will do the job? :?:

New Coopers Lager

I tasted the lager over the weekend. It tastes very much like South African Castle Lager , but with a bit more of a malt flavour. For those that know South African beer I would describe it as a cross between Castle Lager and Windhoek Lager.

Some questions from an apprentice brewer

As the title indicates I am new to this exiting hobby of brewing my own beer. I have a few questions for the more experience brewers. Up to now I have been doing the standard thing i.e. adding a can of premixed malt and hops from a supplier with some fermentable sugars to a fermenter and topping it ...
