Re: Great Northern in North Carlton, Vic

g'day wrighty,

I travel to Perth a lot for work and have found the Feral White on tap at a few places. One I can remember off the top of my head is:

Re: The Generous Squire

Went there last night, but only for a quick couple of pints.

Obviously all of the standard JS beers on tap, along with the Docklands Pale which I thought was only available at the Victorian Docklands JS pub, brewed onsite there. Didn't have time to ask where it came from at The Generous Squire in ...

Glenferrie Hotel, Hawthorn Renovation

Just thought I'd let all you east Melbournians know the Glenferrie Hotel on Burwood Highway, Hawthorn has re-opened after a 9 month renovation. The whole place was gutted and re-done and I must say on initial impressions it was worth the effort, and money. A very nice classic new wooden bar centres ...

Re: Coopers 62

It seems my mention of Coopers Lager has brought forth a couple of comments, so I thought I should clarify! I too would rate Coopers Lager FAR above any other Aussie lager available... by such a long streak it's not comparable! I guess I just find the 62 has that little bit of a different edge ...

Re: Coopers 62

After reading this thread last week, I was in a Coles Liquorland of all places and saw a 6-pack of the Coopers 62 so I grabbed it.

Found it quite light in flavour, but still very pleasant and easy to drink. Had the distinct Saaz flavour any good pilsner should but it is perhaps not as pronounced as ...

Re: New coopers pack

Hey guys, I purchased one from Coles the other day (just because it was new!).

Just heard from someone that contacted Coopers about the price of the kit. They said that there has been a mistake and it's priced incorrectly at the supermarkets.
As it is an International series it should be priced ...

Re: Melb east burbs

There is always The Brewers Den in Boronia. The prices are "reasonable", I think they're bit better than Brewcraft. The chap who runs it with his wife his amiable but he cant understand some one who wants to brew a beer in a different manner to him.
They also sell imported European beers and have a ...

10g Fuggles Hops @ 5mins

Red Duck - Purrumbete Brewing

Just had a couple of Red Duck Pale Ales and my goodness I rate it as a fine new drop.

Pleasant comparison to the drinkability a Coopers Pale Ale offers but with a little more flavour.

Other varieties include Amber Ale, and Porter.

Check out http://www.redduckbeer.com.au

A little costly at around ...

Timmsy, it's simply a power controller that is wired inline between an electrical appliance (fride, heater, heat belt etc.) and power source, that turns the appliance on and off to keep the area in which the controllers temperature probe is located at a set temperature.

It involves a small amount ...

Cheers Krusty,

I have indeed used a screw type insulated connector, so it's good to read you backed up my instincts. I will be electrical taping tonight to ensure a stable and secure connection. From there I will test and let you guys know what it's like...

Mashmaster Fridgemate

I've just purchased a Mashmaster Fridgemate , a simple temperature controller that requires a little assembly.

I have no trouble understanding wiring diagrams and the one that comes with the fridgemate is no exception. However, i was wondering, for anyone that is using the Fridgemate, what sort of ...

Mate,

In regards to the choc and crystal grain, i've just had confirmation from another thread of what i was already lead to believe: the grain you buy from a HBS is already malted. Buying grain from elsewhere (barley etc.) i'm not sure about.

Cheers

All went well my friends. A heavyish body, sweeter than I expected (obviously due to the high FG) but nicely balanced with the bitterness.

I only added 1/2 to 3/4 of a measure of priming dextrose to each bottle because i didn't want the full carbonation of a light coloured beer. This however, has ...

Hey Greg,

SG stayed at 1020 for nearly a week after racking so i bottled.

Probably due to using 1kg of Dark Dry Malt??!

It's been nearly a month so i may actually try one tonight i think.

I'll let you know how it tastes.

I will bottle on the weekend, as SG has been 1020 for nearly 5 days now.

Again thanks for your help.
