Thanks warra.
I don't see any function in brewmate that calculates smaller boil volumes. I am going to head to Big W tommorow and get a 19L pot for 20 bucks. That way I can start upping my mash amounts.
I will go with 10L strike water and then a couple of litres for dunking/sparging the bag.

Partial LCPA Clone
Hi all,
I am hoping for some advice on my first partial. I have done a mini 9L BIAB AG before and it turned out pretty good. My equipment is limited at the moment so was thinking of using the 9L method taken from aussiehomebrewer and adding 1.5L of Liquid Dry Malt to make it up to 22L.

Re: Amber Ale - Your thoughts?
An update - this brew tastes fantastic out of the fermenter - full of flavour and not like a typical mid-strength beer. Not unlike a Rogers style beer and definately not sweet - thanks for all the tips.
Can't wait to get this kegged and rip in to it.

Brew Fridges
Hello,
I invested in a secondhand fridge on the weekend to give my brewing more temp control. I am yet to buy a thermostat for the fridge so I tested what the 'warmest' temp it would go to.
It sits at about 10-12 degrees - so I assume I could use this for lagers now?

Re: Amber Ale - Your thoughts?
Thanks this is great stuff.
So I am now thinking:
Morgans Amber Ale Tin
500g Light Dry Malt
200g Crystal Grain
10g Chinook @ 20mins
15g Cascade @ 15 mins
15g Cascade @ 5 mins
US 05 Yeast
Does this look better? I have some choc grain on hand - would this be a useful addition? If so what amounts ...

Re: Amber Ale - Your thoughts?
Thanks for the replys. After re-thinking the recipe would this reduce the sweetness?
Now more thinking of a mid strength - like the actual Rogers:
1 tin Morgan’s Royal Oak Amber Ale
500g LDM or BE 2 (suggestions?)
50g Crystal Grain steeped 30 mins (do I even need this?)
10g Chinook @ 20 mins ...

Hi all,
Would like some feedback for the following recipe. I am aiming for a rogers style, hoppy amber ale:

150g crystal grain malt (Steeped for 30 mins)
10g Chinook @ 15 mins (this is all I have left)

Out of date tin
Hi all,
I am sure this has been asked before... however, I have a tin of Morgans Chairmans Selection English Bitter that's due date is up at the end of this week. Do I try and ferment this ASAP or can I wait a month or so? I have all of my kegs full and don't want to make an all bottle batch of ...

Mixing Yeasts
Hi,
I put down a honey lager today which included a Coopers Original Lager tin and I used the supplied yeast.
I also had an old yeast packet from a Coopers Cerveza tin which I believe is a slightly different yeast -but not wanting to waste it I chucked it in also.
My question is by mixing these ...

Yep, it was the tap as you said which is a relief.
I pulled it all apart and was horrified at how much black build up was in there!
Any tips on how to get all of it out as some areas you cant scrub?

Black Floaties
Hi all,
I have been storing 2 kegs at a time as my fridge only fits 2. I burp them and store them for a month or 2 until needed.
However, I have noticed these kegs seem to be pouring at the beginning and end of the keg some sort of black bits or floaties.

Re: JS Golden Ale Clone
Thanks for this recipe, this is the tastiest brew I have done - I think this may now be my house standard.
However, I did read in earlier posts to add some crystal malt and wheat.
Can anyone suggest how much of these to add to the original recipe - I would love to try it and see the difference ...

So whats the best method of using these pellets? Do you just chuck them into the fermenter or do I need to boil them up?

Hop Bags
Hi all,
Just a question about Hop Bags...
I have only used Hop Bags for my brews so far, and whilst they definately add flavour, I find that sometimes it also adds some 'different' flavours also. For example, I find the Cascade bags tend to add an almost earthy, dirt taste?
My question is if I ...
