Friday night watching the football, I had a couple of Stockade Bre Co. offerings
Splicer XPA and Mr Fruju NEIPA. Both very enjoyable, I probably enjoyed the XPA more, but couldn't drink a heap of them (bit sweet). Also Thunder Road NEIPA that was nice enough.
Both SWMBO and daughter tried the ...

I don't profess to be anything like an expert, but if you run into any problems let me know. I'd be happy to help if I can.
Thanks for the offer Geoff. My brother has been kegging for years and hes only around the corner, so I've been leaning on him for advice.
PS. Great to hear that the good ...

Re: What are you drinking now?
Currently drinking a k&b DSGA with some citra added in boil and dry (with amarillo). Really enjoying it.
Normally not an overly exiting announcement, but it's the first brew in keg for me, so it tastes sooo much better.

How are the homebrews?
Drinking a k&b dark ale & k&b Coopers Pale (mid) at present, enjoying both.
Bottled a chocolate stout last weekend, and in the next few days should bottle an English Bitter.
Dusting off the homebrew gear again has also got me looking at the bottlo shelves with greater ...

Re: What are you drinking now?
I haven't been around for a while (nearly 7 years since last post  ), things are certainly quieter here now.
With all this extra time on my hands I've dragged out the homebrew gear and dusted it off to restart. 4 new brews bottled now.

That's priceless Planner, and yes mine does have psychic abilities.

When not to make a mess
One night last week I figured there was nothing worth watching on the idiot box so decided to bottle a batch.
I still haven’t plumbed the sink in the shed, so at present am using the laundry trough for beer related activities. SWMBO heard the running water and came to investigate.

Re: Lager yeast for Cider?
My 2c, it's finished. If you're adding lactose you obviously don't want it dry anyway. Stupid question, does the lactose ferment out completely anyway? Never used it so don't know.
Thanks Rotten
Correct, I didn't want it too dry (will be shared with SWMBO). The lactose doesn't fully ferment ...

500g lactose
Coopers kit yeast boiled in 2l to dissolve lactose
Topped up to 1045 OG (17l)
Saflager S-23
This bubbled away slowly for 2 weeks at 12deg before stopping at 1020.
So I stirred and raised temp to 18deg, no further movement. After another week I stirred ...

I had already looked at their website, thanks for the PDF, I hadn't seen that before.
Thinking I might get a satchet of the Burton Union to try as well.
Will let you know how they go, might be a few weeks as both fermenters are occupied.

Mangrove Jacks Craft Series Yeast
Yesterday while in the LHBS getting some LDME, the owner showed me the range of Mangrove Jacks yeast that he now stocks. He doesn't keep any liquid yeasts, so this extra range of dried stuff will be a bonus if it's any good. I bought a "British Ale" and a "US West Coast" to try. My hope is that they ...
