Coopers Vintage 2006.

Smooth, rich and well balanced. It has really hit its straps with extended cellaring, but is showing some early signs of too much aging, so I'm just cleaning up the last couple of stubbies.

An APA from the recent local case swap. Another cracker.

@Greg - had a CVA 1999 on Friday with a mod from the other brewing forum. Very port/sherry like now but i still enjoyed it. I love that aspect of an aged ale. Served at ~16C. Perfect!

My mate's got a Hahn Millennium ale, reckon it'd be a bit too old. He wants to crack it open soon but it's sure as hell intimidating (12 yo beer :O)

I saw Barry (the manager at my preferred bottle-o) had Moo Brew in stock. Last night was the dark and pale (which serendipitously made for some great food matches) today is the hefeweizen. All have been great, the hefe in particular being an eye opener as I don't get to try wheats much. Would be great in summer, it's got yummy esters and some phenolic character (the latter I found harder to pin down and took a punt on). Definitely on the AG brew list for summer, I'd love to have one on tap but Ireckon that's a far later investment. Also perhaps a slight suggestion of apple, but not unpleasant like other apple in beer flavours (such as in TEDs, ewww).

It is May and I am back off the wagon :D

Have discovered that my latest bottling - LCPA-type BIAB - is bloody fantastic. I also have a mixed half dozen stubbies from the Red Duck people at Camperdown. Looking forward to having a go at those.
Currently drinking: BIAB DrS GA, BIAB Californian lager, doppelbock of sorts

Just having a coffee and a smoke (breakfast of champions, isn't it?) on the 15th floor balcony of the penthouse I'm in in Parramatta. Sister's getting married today and I have to wait for the flowers to be delivered here while she's having her hair done. Hell of a view!

I assume you're talking Adelaide. I was there, unfortunately.

Drowned our sorrows with some draughts at the after-match "celebrations", then went to the Prince Patrick on Victoria Parade and had a Growler American Brown Ale from 2 Brothers, a Samuel Smith Pale Ale and Samuel Smith Oatmeal Stout.

If your sorrows need drowning, they're pretty good ways to go about it :-)

Cheers,

Oliver

Nothing at the moment, ran out at a fund raiser a few weeks ago :(

But I just put into secondary last night, my Cascade Light with home grown hops, but this time I decided to use lager yeast, didnt change anything else.

Well I was bloody tempted tp just drink it from the primary. This is going to be one to brag about.

Starting to get the hang of this Ag thinh a bit now :)

Good weekend to all...

The APA that I'm submitting as my Easter lotto entry (yet to have posted.) Almost clear (will be in a week,) not quite bright, tastes and smells like a million bucks. Bitterness up front, followed by the mid-palate maltiness, finished with more of that bitterness. No idea why it still has such an aroma, considering I didn't dry-hop this one...I'd suggest that scoot drinks this the day it arrives in the post.

A dunklerweizenbock.

Brewed in December last year, based on Trough Lolly's Erdinger Dunkler Weizenbock recipe.

It's maturing nicely, and tastes like liquid fruit cake. You can tell it has over 8.5% ABV by the glycerine legs running down the glass after each sip. Definitely not a session beer, well, at least, not a long session. I reckon this beer still has a long time ahead of it. Because of the nature of the beer, I bottled it in Coopers stubbies. One at a time is enough.

I'm back for a post op review with the surgeon next Tuesday morning. Recovering nicely so far after my surgery last Monday. Hope the pathology turns up nothing nasty. I had a lot of growths removed from the chestwall muscles ( mrs warra is not really amused when I call it my "boob job" :) ).

Crossing my fingers for you Warra.

I've read the dunklerwiezenbock thread a few times. It's high on my list of priorities when I eventually get around/get the remaining eqpt' to go AG. :)~

Right now I'm drinking a Coopers toucan, best extra stout clone. One of the best kit brews I've made and one of the simplest. Well worth the $26 spent on ingredients.

Cheers
