I've got two of those weihenstephan glasses. Some Dan Murphys stores have them in gift-packs. I'm with you, Warra (and your comments on the other site); that lot turn out a bloody nice wheat beer!

Samuel Smith's Nut Brown Ale that I picked up from Sword's at Queen Vic Market today when I ducked over there for lunch. (I'm loving being on leave :) )

It had been in the fridge when I cracked it, but now that it's warming up some really nice flavours are coming through. It's a delicious and easy-drinking English beer.

And check out the photo of the brew fermenting in the "Yorkshire square" on the front page of their website. Talk about an incredible krausen (Coopers would probably call it an inkredible krausen, given the so-called "krausen kollar" on their newer fermenters!)

Cheers,

333 in a hotel in Ho Chi Minh City. It's a bit of a dirty lager with a slightly off nose and taste. I've tried it back home and wondered whether (hoped that?) it just didn't "travel well". I can tell you that it travels just fine. It's just that it's not a particularly good beer to begin with.

Simultaneously I'm drinking a locally brewed Henieken. It's going down very nicely, thank you very much. While it's perhaps not quite as malty as the original, it's a hell of a lot better than the Australian-brewed version as it doesn't have the slightly unpleasant bitterness.

Gotta go. The chick's drinking my beers!

Cheers,

Oliver

Cooper's Dark Ale kit beer. Loving it because it is my first brew that I've put on tap.

3 pints over lunch today at Five Islands Brewery, Wollongong.

1. Koelsch - excellent, i'd be more than happy to sit and have these assist in mellowing out my afternoon, pale and very palatable.

2. Rust Amber Ale - Fanstastic Beer! this was my favourite today, nice colour and the late additon of Galaxy hops make there presence known, love it!.

3. Wit Beer - Citrus tones with Banana although i think i may have spoiled it with the Rust beforehand.

and to eat: South Australian black mussels pan fried in Rust Amber Ale with tomato & lime salsa.

The seasonal beer is a coffee porter.. which i would have tried also maybe next time.

Just got back to the hotel after an afternoon snack and beer ... crab and banana croquettes (not what we ordered, I hasten to add!) and a Heineken ... on ice. A Vietnamese guy at work warned me about beer and ice, but it didn't make it any less confronting when it turned up at the table!

new it would be a curse... this afternoon after work

pint of Stiegl Golbrau 4.9% ... straw coloured lager didnt impress much.
pint of Holfbrau Hefe Weissbier dunkel 5.1% 12IBU .. this one suprised me, alot of tropical flavours coming through .. the bloke pouring the beer recommended this .. now i know why although towards the end the tropical / banana esters increased and were began to really over power ..

looks like i'll be working my way through the menu

Lime vodka and lemonade with heaps of ice while I watch a thunderstorm across the bay from our hotel balcony in Nha Trang. Time for beers though. Heineken, I think. The bar fridge in the hotel gets stuff nice and cold, so no need for ice :-)
